Carleton’s Gould Library’s Special Collections and Archives has received a Preservation Assistance Grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities to fund an assessment of the Special Collections and Archives vault, according to Abigail Merritt, library conservator.
Support from the NEH will enable library staff to hire a contractor to study environmental needs of the collections stored in the archives; determine whether the space and mechanical system can adequately serve the preservation needs of the collection; and assess how they can serve those needs better.
